The death of Marcel Bonn - better known by his stage name Tim Kruger - was announced on Saturday in a heartbreaking post from his longtime partner, Grobes Geraet.

The news was published on the social media channels of Kruger's website TimTales, which is one of the biggest sites and production companies in the gay porn industry.

Specific details weren't given, although Geraet made sure to emphasize that Kruger's death wasn't the result of drug use or foul play.

'It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share the news of the passing of our beloved Marcel, the man you all knew and loved as Tim Kruger,' the statement began.

'To the public, he was the ultimate ginger pornstar; to me, he was a sweet, caring partner of over 20 years. He was also my best friend. He touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him,' it continued.

Geraet then shared a vague cause of death, calling it an 'accident.'

'I am very aware of the stigma that surrounds deaths in the porn industry, so let me make this very clear to hopefully cut down on the inevitable speculation: Tim's death was a tragic, yet simple accident at home,' he wrote.

He continued, 'Though my heart is broken into pieces, lanciao I find solace in the countless memories he gifted us. And I know that he died knowing he was loved.

'Tim's legacy of compassion, love, and joy will live on in all who knew him.'

The statement finished, 'I am aware that you all will have countless questions, but this is all the information I have to share right now. I would love for everyone to respect his loved ones' time to grieve in privacy. Thank you.'

Social media was filled with tributes to the German-born star from many of the industry's most prominent performers. 

'Sad day. R.I.P. to the legend,' wrote Rhyheim Shabazz, while Porfi Maximus wrote, 'Rip papi. Legend and King.'

Roxas Caelum wrote, 'When I met him, he was nothing but kind and caring, and one of the most sweet people I've ever met rest in peace Tim.'

'I will never forget the first [time] I met him, the energy the calmness and the kindness he radiated!' wrote Sir Peter.

Kruger was a huge name in the industry thanks to his impressive physical attributes

'My career won't ever had a beginning if wasn't for him! He was and still is my biggest example and inspiration and I hope one day to be half of the men he was! Legends never die! We miss you already.'

Kruger was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1981.

He worked at an adult store in Berlin and then joined the porn industry as a performer in 2006.

Kruger quickly became a huge star thanks to his impressive physical attributes, and in 2009 he launched his own studio called Tim Tales.

He later relocated to Barcelona, where he lived with his partner until his death.
